     between verbal children with signing support, strictly verbal children, and children with extra 

     verbal support.  her research says that “Non-intervention Control group indicated an advantage            for the Sign Training group on the vast majority of language acquisition measures. These results 

     provide strong evidence that symbolic gesturing does not hamper verbal development and may

Speech and sign should go together but may not flow at the same pace therefore words can be omitted. About 1-year-old children are missing sounds for other languages, but have only tuned into their language relative sounds. Do we help children to speak?                    Summary: Refers to many research on how a child learns language. Research contradicts and              supports and personal analysis thus far is that specific learning of language is still a mystery.               Roger Brown and Catherine Snow research supports personal idea that “presetting sentences in a        special way to children will feed them info to make it easier to learn the language” the book also        references Helen Keller as an example.  How I plan to use it: Summary/Paraphrase/Quote

Summary:  Singing can help language proficiency.  ASL is the            third most common language in the united states behind Spanish and Italian.   She used  data from     BabySigns.com that supports the idea that signing does help a child acquire language.  She also           references Goodwyn’s support of thought-language connection impacting early learning.  She lists     benefits of baby sign language.  How I will use it:  Paraphrase, Summarize/Paraphrase/Quote
