Cattell, N. R. "Bootstrapping/13.5 Acquisition of Vocabulary." Children's Language: Consensus and Controversy. 2nd ed. London: Cassell, 2007. 224-25. Print. Do we help children to speak? Summary: Refers to many research on how a child learns language. Research contradicts and supports and personal analysis thus far is that specific learning of language is still a mystery. Roger Brown and Catherine Snow research supports personal idea that “presetting sentences in a special way to children will feed them info to make it easier to learn the language” the book also references Helen Keller as an example.
