Reader Response to Contextual Analysis Essay

__________
1. I'm not sure I understand his intention. I'm not sure if I'm following what he is saying.  Is he saying there can never be equality? Maybe, he is pointing out that politics is trying to tell us how to have a inter-racial relationships?
2. & 3. I think he focuses on the 'facade' of black/white friendships and the relationships of black and whites. He also focuses on how black history is minimized and true emotions that could actually connect and unify us are passed over. He believes that media/politics is trying to conform and define how black/white relationships are suppose to look like. He thinks that the media is trying to fix racism by minimizing the blacks history (ignoring it?). That black-white relationships are being forced by media, politics and guilt.
4.  What are the features of the text that are discussed by the author?  Black & white american's relationships, well-fare associated with guilt, black statistics vs white statistics...
5.  What are the intended effects of the text?  (Generally considered by the audience) to show another way of thinking about the differences between blacks and whites. This other way being, rather than conforming to the just accepting ways of equality that the media and politics define, we try to build real connections and understandings.   (?)
6.  What are the unintended effects of the text as identified by the author of the essay? I have a question, I guess, that is in what generations will there be same-ness, then?
